Basic information about the metro in Dongguan

Construction of the Dongguan Metro began in 2010, mainly to enable the city to carry a large number of passengers that overhead traffic could no longer handle. Line 2 was first introduced to people in 2016. It has a total of 12 stations, which are 38 km long. Currently, another 6 lines are planned to be built and two of them (lines 1 and 3) are scheduled to open in 2020. The complete construction should be completed in 2030. The total length of the underground route should be 308 km. For example, some metro lines will run all the way to Guangzhou. Underground transport would thus greatly serve especially those who often travel between cities in the Pearl River Delta.

Ticket price

The fare varies depending on the distance traveled. You will pay 3 yuan for the first 4 km, 4-7 yuan for 4-12 km, 7-9 yuan for 12-24 km, plus 1 yuan for every additional 8 km crossed.

Taxi

There is also a taxi in the city. You can call him only on the street or in the places where the taxi is usually standing. For us Europeans, it is a relatively inexpensive way of transport, and taxis are on every corner. However, it is important to arrange the price in advance, otherwise, you are at risk that your local taxi drivers will get you more money than you would like.

However, we recommend that you use the UBER application, where you have the first free coupon for free!
