The opening of the subway in Fuzhou was originally planned for 2014, however, due to construction problems, the opening of the entire route was postponed until 2016. The construction of the northern part of the metro was completed earlier than the southern one. At present, there is one line in operation, with a total of 21 stations and a route length of fewer than 25 km.

Phase 2 of construction of line 1 should be completed by 2020.

At the moment there are plans to build more lines and some (lines 2, 3, 5 and 6) are already under construction. Line 2 should be opened in 2020, line 4 in 2022, line 5 in 2021 and line 6 also in 2021. The complete suspicious network should be completed in 2050 and the total length of the route will be 338 km.

Ticket price

You can purchase a classic one-way fare in the form of red tokens. Their price starts at 2 yuan per 5 km, and for each additional 5 kilometers, you pay 1 yuan more.

The second option is to purchase a so-called “smart card”, which will give you a 10% discount on fare, and you can also use it for local bus transport. Children under 130 cm can ride the metro for free.

Both fare types can be easily purchased and captured at any metro station.

Taxi

There is also a taxi in the city. You can call him only on the street or in the places where the taxi is usually standing. For us Europeans, it is a relatively inexpensive way of transport, and taxis are on every corner. However, it is important to arrange the price in advance, otherwise, you are at risk that your local taxi drivers will get you more money than you would like.

However, we recommend that you use the UBER application, where you have the first free coupon for free!
