Basic information about the metro in Hangzhou

Hangzhou Metro was first opened in 2012 as China’s 21st subway system. At the moment, there are 3 lines in operation, but a major extension of up to 10 lines is planned. The complete network should be completed by 2021. The 3 lines currently in operation have a total of 78 stations spread over 117 km. The planned route length of all lines is 375 km.

Ticket price

The amount of the fare depends on which route you will travel overall. For the first 4 km you pay 2 yuan. For the next 4 km in the 4-12 km range you will pay 1 extra yuan, 1 extra yuan for every 6 km in the 12-24 km range, and 1 more yuan for every 8 km over 24 miles traveled.

In addition to the regular fare, you can purchase a tourist ticket, either a one-day ticket (for 15 yuan) or a three-day ticket (for 40 yuan). You can also buy a local Hangzhou Tong card, which can also be used for other city transport in the city. Both types of fare can be purchased at any metro station.

Children under 130 cm can travel by metro for free. However, they must be accompanied by an adult.

The list of all metro stations in Hangzhou

Hangzhou’s metro system is consists of three lines.

Line 1 – Red

The first line (red) is consists of 34 metro stations. It begins in Xianghu, Binkang Road, Xixing, Binhe Road, Jiangling Road, Jinjiang, Wujiang Road, Chengzhan (Railway Station), Ding’an Road, Longxiangqiao, Fengqi Road, Wulin Square, West Lake Cultural Square, Datieguan, Zhalongkou, East Railway Station, Pengbu, Qibao, Jiuhe Road, Jiubao, Passenger Transport Center, West Xiasha, Jinshahu, Gaosha Road, Wenze Road, South Wenhai Road, Yunshui, Xiasha Jiangbin, South Qiaosi, Qiaosi, Wengmei, Yuhang Railway Station, Nanyuan, and the last station is Linping.

Line 2 – Orange

The second line (orange) is consists of Chaoyang, Caojiaqiao, Panshui, Renmin Road, Hangfachang, People’s Square, Jianshe 1st Road, Jianshe 3rd Road, Zhenning Road, Feihong Road, Yingfeng Road, Qianjiang Century City, Qianjiang Road, Qingchun Square, Qingling Road, North Jianguo Road, North Zhonghe Road, Fengqi Road, Wulinmen, Shentangqiao, Xianingqiao (Closed), Xueyuan Road, Gucui Road, Fengtan Road, Wenxin, Sanba, Xialongwei, Sandun, Dunxiang Street, Jinjiadu, Baiyang, Dufucun, and the last station is Liangzhu.

Line 4 – Green

The fourth line (green) is consists of 18 metro stations. It begins in Puyan, Yangjiadun, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Lianzhuang, Shuichengqiao, Fuxing Road, Nanxingqiao, Yongjiang Road, Jinjiang, Chengxing Road, Citizen Center, Jiangjin Road, Qianjiang Road, Jingfang, Xintang, Xinfeng, East Railway Station and the last station is Pengbu.

Time tables

Lines 2, 3, and 4 start up around 6 am, ending either around 11 or just before 12. Depending on busy capacity, day and time, they run regularly every 4 to 9 minutes.

Bus transportation

You can also easily use the bus service in the city. However, bus transportation will take you more time. Use the same card for the ride as for the metro. Timetable information can be found on site.

Taxi

There is also a taxi in the city. You can call him only on the street or in the places where the taxi is usually standing. For us Europeans, it is a relatively inexpensive way of transport, and taxis are on every corner.
